It's the first of our four scheduled visits to Ashfield this season, the Spring Trophy match having been postponed by the rain. There's no doubt that this will be a tough match with Glasgow now showing some form around their own track following their customary home defeat to Workington a few weeks ago.

There must be something about Saturday speedway that decrees it must be run on sopping wet tracks.

It's fair to say that Berwick has not been one of our most productive hunting grounds just as Armadale has not been one of Berwick's. This is largely down to the totally different size and nature of the two tracks. On Saturday we have another opportunity to raid the Bandits den in the match postponed a few weeks ago when the rain curtailed proceedings after heat 2.

Newcastle can often be a danger at Armadale, but the Scotwaste Monarchs made an excellent job of defeating them.

The new rider we thought we had signed, John Oliver from Boston, will not now be coming to Monarchs.

Edinburgh Scotwaste Monarchs have signed 18 year old John Oliver from Boston, and the new man will make his debut for the team on Friday in the match against Newcastle at Armadale.
