The Scotwaste Monarchs are still looking for their first win in August, and a mix-up over guests didn't help as they went down 44-49 to Workington.

Jason Lyons had been previously publicised to stand in for Kaj Laukkanen, but it was realised on Friday afternoon that this would not be according to the rules.

It is an inexcusable mistake which the promotion apologise for. The most suitable rider eligible and able to come was Berwick's Jacek Rempala, who had scored 8 on his last appearance. He didn't have a good night though and looked uncomfortable.

Derek Sneddon performed well again, and was unbeaten after three rides. Andrew Tully perked up after a poor weekend a week ago, and led the way as TR to an 8-1 heat result in heat 14 which wook the match to a last heat decider.

Matthew Wethers wasn't at his best and didn't win a race, but he did gain a thrilling second place in the final heat, the only time James Wright was beaten.

George Stancl returned after injury and won heat 1, but only added one further second place.

Laukkanen should return next Friday for the last match in August against Sheffield, and the last chance to gain a victory in the calendar month.
