The Scotwaste Monarchs ran riot with a 58-34 win at Glasgow on Sunday afternoon, resoundingly taking us through to the semi-finals of the Premier Trophy.

We are becoming used to these seven-man high quality displays and that was what we saw again at Ashfield. However there has to be a special mention for no. 7 Aaron Summers who scored a paid maximum, completing it in an incredible heat 14.

In this heat Aaron had to go off 15 metres after touching the tapes. On a dusty track it seemed his maximum would be lost (he had won three earlier heats) but with a great display of skill he drove between Dicken and Grajczonek to take a paid win.

It was success all the way. We scored 7 5-1 heat wins, 10 race wins (everyone had at least one) and didn't even need any finishers after heat 11 to win the match.

For Glasgow Shane Parker won 5 heats and took 4 points on a TS ride, but he was pretty well alone. Regrettably Trent Leverington was ruled out after hitting the fence in heat 1 while racing Ryan Fisher out of the second bend. This certainly cost Glasgow points.

However the public comments of Stewart Dickson suggested that changes may not be far away for his team.

For Edinburgh at the moment the only real problem is avoiding sky-high expectations.
