Max Dilger joins the Monarchs on Wednesday, the first German rider to race for us.

Max speaks good English and gave us his thoughts as he prepares for the trip to Birmingham for his debut.

"I have been to Britain before, one time last year at Rye House. Normally in Germany the tracks are big but I think I have a good technique for small tracks. At Rye House I rode with the wrong engine, I rode with my German bike and the engine was too strong for the small track.

"I know I will need different engines and I have those now. I have four bikes for Birmingham which I am bringing. They are GMs. I will have a look at the track at Birmingham and decide which bike to use.

"I know of the riders in the Edinburgh team but personally I do not know them. I look forward to meeting them this week.

"Normally I am a good starter so I hope I will show that.

"I do not ride on longtrack or grasstrack, only speedway, and I am a full-time rider. I don't have many meetings left in Germany or Poland so I want to do well in Britain.

"I think Germany has some good riders for the future and I hope to be in the forefront of that. Kevin Wolbert is coming to Edinburgh on Friday also and he is a good rider."
