Our match at Rye House was called off after six races with the Rockets leading 20-16 but with the Scotwaste Monarchs having provided the last four race winners.

John Campbell said "We were disappointed and our riders would have carried on."

Pre-meeting rain had made the track slippery, but there were no serious incidents in the early heats. Gjedde passed Cook in heat one, Tully won heat 4 from the back and Cook pulled off an excellent third-to-first in heat 5.

We also had Matthew Wethers (heat 3) and Andrew Tully (heat six) taking the chequered flag, although Derek plus the two reserves were finding conditions difficult.

After heat six another short shower brought the riders off the track.

Matthew said "It wasn't nice but I would rather have ridden it than come back."

Craig's view was that it had become quite dangerous and the home riders clearly were not keen. Referee Barbara Horley agreed with them and that was that.
