Scotwaste Monarchs’ fans have rallied round remarkably, not for the first time, to give the club hope that in spite of the problems of the 2012 season, all might not be lost. Two meetings are being planned to meet supporters in the period prior to the annual conference.

There have been many enquiries from supporters who wish to offer financial support to the Club at this difficult time, and the first meeting at the Black Bull Inn, Mid Calder this Wednesday 31st October (7:30pm) is intended exclusively for supporters who think they would be able to contribute to the fund but want to hear what the Club have to say about 2012 and the future.

Those who have already pledged money will be invited, and season ticket holders will all be contacted by letter, but the meeting is open to any potential contributor.

It is not a large venue so to ensure that adequate seating is available on the night, anyone who wishes to attend should first contact Mike Hunter on 0131 332 1127 / 07977 151612 or by email to mike.hunter@edinburghmonarchs.co

No money will be taken on the night, and while a number of fans have been pledging £500 towards the fund, we fully appreciate that for some this is too much and they would consider donating at a lower level.

A significant sum has already been pledged to the Club by supporters but with the Club’s debts at the end of the 2012 season being substantial the Club are still some way from being able to confirm participation in the 2013 season.

As well as allowing supporters to contribute, the club are exploring avenues to raise funds in other ways. It is realistic to say that we need a fair cushion of funds going in to next season – we would not want to be gambling too much on the weather getting better.

A further full public meeting will be held prior to the Promoters’ Conference to update all supporters on the future of the Club.
