The Scotwaste Monarchs are pleased to announce that 26 year old Danish rider Claus Vissing will be joining the team on loan from Peterborough, starting this weekend.

Although Friday’s home match is off already, Claus is due to make his debut at Berwick on Saturday night.

Claus has been looking for a place in the UK, and he said this morning “I’m really happy to be with Edinburgh, it’s a good club.

“I’ve not ridden Armadale before but that doesn’t worry me. It’s a shame the first meeting is off.

“I already knew Craig Cook and Jozsef Tabaka from before, and Theo Pijper. Derek Sneddon is the captain and he seems very nice, I think the team spirit is important.”

Promoter John Campbell was obviously happy to conclude the arrangement and said “Claus was so keen to come to us he even suggested that he would sleep in a tent on the centre green if necessary!

“Obviously we can’t have that but we’d still be grateful to hear from anyone who has a room we can rent for him, preferably with workshop space as well.”

Although Vissing hasn’t been to Armadale, he has guested for Monarchs, scoring 10 as Monarchs won at Leicester in 2011. In the same season he guested against Monarchs for Glasgow, and scored a maximum! Tigers’ statistician Robin Goodall tells us he is the only rider with a 12-point average at Ashfield!

As things stand at the moment, Monarchs are due to race at Berwick on Saturday (7pm) and Glasgow Sunday (3pm).
