The Scotwaste Monarchs are pleased to announce that 22 year old Stevie Worrall is the first name to be announced for the 2014 team.

Steve rode for Newcastle and Redcar in the Premier League last year, having returned from a broken leg which curtailed his 2012 season.

Steve’s last appearance at Armadale resulted in a top score of 12 guesting for the Ipswich Witches so on a current CMA of 3.00 he should be a valuable capture. This performance resulted in Craig Cook urging the Monarchs’ promotion to snap him up, so how could we argue?

He said “I’m looking forward to joining Monarchs. Last time I was at Armadale I did very well, it was a bit of a shock to me really!”

His late season form showed plenty of improvement, and he explained “Three quarters of the way through the season my brother Richie helped out with an engine. A lot of things contributed to it really, getting on some good equipment, the confidence grows and everything clicks into place.”

“Racing in the National League helped too. In the National League I go to the line and I kind of know I’m going to win. It helps confidence.”

Armadale is a track riders either like or dislike a lot, but Steve says “I actually love it, it has nice grippy starts and it’s smooth.”

He’s looking for a healthy increase in average. “Hopefully I’ll average a lot more than 3, I would like to more than double that!

“I didn’t know Craig had said in the paper he would like me at Armadale but he did speak to me after I’d put on facebook that I was looking for a place.

“I’ve still got the engine off Richie though I haven’t paid for it yet! He could never get on with it. We both ride differently. When you get to know us you realise we are quite different people.”

There are no further signings at the moment in a winter when the injury to Jozsef Tabaka has made things additionally complicated, but talks are continuing with other riders.
