Thank goodness for the advent of laptops, tablets, mobile phones, Facebook and Twitter for keeping us informed on whether a speedway meeting is going ahead or has fallen foul to postponement for any reason!

Luckily on Sunday I was informed at an early stage of my journey west which saved me from making a fruitless journey but what was it like before modern technology took over? Arriving at the destination speedway track to read the big notice on the front door saying 'Match Cancelled'! Aye, a few of us older supporters remember that!

I think Friday's match against the Newcastle Diamonds was fairly entertaining. Now most speedway meetings have at least one race which stands out above the rest and makes you glad you came along and heat 12 was one of those! Steve Worrall and Max Fricke were up against Stuart Robson and Dan Greenwood and the first three of those named provided us with a race that surely must be included in the season highlights selection. My heart was in my mouth for all four laps and I was relieved to see our boys cross the line for a 5-1 which more or less sealed the match for us. It turned out to be fairly comfortable in the end with the difference really being the solid scoring of our two reserves.

I'm looking forward now to the long trip to Ipswich on Thursday for the second try at running the league fixture. I got 240 miles down the road the first time so let's hope for a fine evening in Suffolk! It's going to be our toughest test so far and one we are going to have to be at our best to win. The prize, of course, is 14 from 14! Sounds good eh? Then off to the Premier Inn for a couple of celebratory drinks and a good night's sleep! It'll be a sharpish rise in the morning and get stoked up with the buffet breakfast (I do look forward to that) before the journey north straight to Armadale for the home match against the Glasgow Tigers. We're getting to know them quite well now! I don't expect Dimitri Berge will be back from injury but I'm looking forward to seeing Anders Thomsen again. Let's hope that Kevin and Theo are on form.

It'll be good to welcome the Glasgow management and supporters once again to

our track as it will your good selves! Thanks again for stopping and saying hello last week. I like to keep up to date on what's happening! I think we've got to be a little patient and see what improvements and changes the new owners are going to make to the stadium. It'll take them a wee while but together we'll get there in the end and we all wish them the best of luck! So, until Friday, take care and be good! And, be kind to me as I'll be a tad weary!
