It is more than sixty years since an individual World Champion arrived in Scotland to ride for the Monarchs but this weekend Erik Riss will do just that.

Crowned World Long Track Champion at just nineteen years of age at Muhldorf in Germany in September last year he is, in fact, a double World Champion as he was a member of the German World Cup winning long track team in August. But Erik knows he's coming to a completely different challenge when he arrives in Edinburgh on Friday evening.

Erik's arrival in Edinburgh has been delayed by the fact that he is sitting college exams right up to Thursday afternoon. His travel group of five, including his mother and big brother Mark, will then set out on their journey to Scotland.

Two, or maybe even three, Armadales would sit inside a normal long track so a different approach will be necessary if Erik is to master his new home track. However, he is determined to make an impact in speedway, perhaps even making it to the Grand Prix in years to come.

Come along to Armadale at four o'clock on Saturday to see him in action.
