Following Friday’s practise session the Border Roofing Monarchs have selected as their no. 7 the 16 year old newcomer to Speedway, Dan Bewley.

This may seem something of a surprise choice to anyone who didn’t attend the session on Friday, because Dan has only been riding for a few months and must be one of the most inexperienced riders ever to be given a Premier League place.

Anyone attending the practise though will have seen his control and boldness and he was the contender who most impressed the Monarchs’ management, even though some of the others also showed up well.

He comes with a strong recommendation from Craig Cook who said “He’s very talented, I’m sure he is going to be good, he might be your no. 1 in a couple of years time!”

Craig did admit that he thought the youngster might not be willing to take the plunge right away, but in fact he made an appearance in a challenge fixture at Newcastle on Sunday night, riding as Workington no. 8.

Bewley and his family live near the Cooks in Cumbria and they will certainly be taking a keen interest in his progress.

He comes on loan from Belle Vue who had signed him up the day before he came up to Armadale. He is very definitely one for the future and no-one will be putting any pressure on him.

The Armadale season starts on Friday with the visit of the Belle Vue Aces in an Inter-League challenge match.
