It was a busy weekend for the Parsons Peebles Monarchs. After our practice on Friday Erik and Mark Riss flew out of Glasgow Airport on their way to Poland.

They both took part in the Speedway Best Pairs in Torun on Saturday evening. Both started as reserve but after two rides for Tobias Kroner, Erik got four rides for the City team partnering Kai Huckenbeck. He finished with five points from 4 races including winning his last race.

Mark had to wait a long time to get his chance for the Trans MF Pro Race team taking the place of Martin Smolinski in heat 21, the last of the qualifiers. After initially challenging for a scoring position he then tailed off at the back.

Ricky Wells was contesting the Cumberland Open at Workington on Saturday. A win in heat 20 would have secured him first place but he ended up third and that gave him fourth place overall.

Also on Saturday the Monarchs Fans Trust put on an eye catching display at the 11th Birthday Bash of Saltire Motorcycles in Edinburgh. Josh Pickering was there to draw their Pre-Season Raffle and Derek Hay was the lucky man to win the star prize of a night in hospitality for 20 guests.

On Sunday Sam Masters was riding in the Rambo Lambo's Decennary, the Simon Lambert Testimonial. In a meeting that took four hours to run, Sam finished third in the final behind Kenneth Bjerre and Niels Kristian Iversen.

And while this was all going on work continued at the stadium to make it ready for the first meeting next Friday. Our list of pre-season work is almost complete.
