We have the small matter of the Championship Pairs and the British GP at Cardiff to look forward to this weekend, but the next action at Armadale will be the visit of the Buxton Hitmen a week on Friday (28th) in a challenge match which seems to have caught the imagination

The match will be sponsored by ProBowl and we have additional sponsorship from Tweedside Commercials, and we are hoping that supporters will also want to be involved in backing this event – details below.

Our Parsons Peebles Monarchs will field Josh Pickering and Mitchell Davey from our usual 1 – 7 as well as Newcastle’s Ben Hopwood and the spirited Mildenhall rider Luke Ruddick. At reserve we give a chance to local lads Dale Lamb and Kev Whelan who have been picking up experience in the Development Leagues, and there is one more rider to be named for the home side.

The Hitmen, who you may be surprised to know have been in competition for 24 consecutive seasons at their Derbyshire base (two separate circuits), have ridden in Scotland on 28 previous occasions at Linlithgow, Armadale and Ashfield, though not since 2005. Their star men at the moment are current Championship riders Max Clegg and Matt Williamson, and their team next week will also feature former Monarch Lee Dicken and his son Kean plus Australian Shelby Rutherford and Jamie Halder.

Their greatest year was 2010 when the Hitmen won the National League, National Trophy and NL Knockout Cup. Their team that season contained Craig Cook, Nick Morris, Jason Garrity, Charles Wright and Robert Branford and would be sure to win the Championship this season!

The Hitmen logo is one of the most famous in speedway and we are very pleased to be hosting them next week. Admissions for the event will be exactly the same as for the Caledonian Riders' Championship with the adult price being £10, £8 for Seniors and Students, £3 for Children 12 - 16 and all children under 11 free. There will be a further discount for purchasing online up to the day before the event and although season tickets will not be valid season ticket holders will be offered the cheapest prices of all.

Heat sponsorships will be available involving Hospitality for the evening, giving an alcohol inclusive package for 2 for £50 and the non alcohol package for 2 will be £40. Rider sponsorships are priced at £25 which will go direct to the rider to help with racing costs. These can be booked online now.
