Well Done Ron

We are very pleased to bring you news of a prestigious award won by our photographer, Ron MacNeill. At the Scottish Press Photography Awards ceremony held in Glasgow last night Ron won the best Sports Action award for a photograph taken at Armadale.

It is a well deserved award for Ron who only took up photography when he retired from the NHS. Said co-promoter, John Campbell, "It's a well deserved reward for Ron. He takes such marvellous photos and we're privileged to be able to use them on our website and in our programme. Ron is such an obliging and helpful man and often goes out of his way in travelling miles to take the photos we want. He is thrilled to have won this award."

Ron added, "I'd forgotten that the awards were taking place last night and it was late when I got home from Tynecastle where I also take photos for Hearts. It was after midnight before I called up the SPPA website to see who had won and I was flabbergasted to see it was me! I'm grateful to everyone at Armadale Speedway who has given me the opportunity to develop my technique and I hope that I can continue to take speedway shots for many years to come."
