The Parsons Peebles Monarchs held another very successful Dinner Dance last night in the Edinburgh Marriot Hotel. All of our riders still in the UK made it to the event, even our Riders’ Championship representatives.

It’s an earlier event than usual this year and with many of the rules for 2018 still to be set, there isn’t much hard news about how things will look.

One thing was clarified by John Campbell – the Cochrane Family, owners of Armadale, have confirmed 100% that the stadium will again be available for speedway next summer. This removes any doubt caused by their recently submitted planning application.

Len Jones is a regular attender due to his positions with various supporters organisations, but this year also of course he was also representing team sponsors Parsons Peebles. He said that his company have enjoyed their year with Monarchs and that he will be discussing further involvement with colleagues at the earliest opportunity.

Of our two Championship Riders’ contenders, Sam was obviously first away followed by Ricky who managed to dodge the problem on the M8. They had missed the initial speeches session but said their bit when invited to do so by Gordon Campbell.

Erik and Mark Riss, Max Clegg and Mitchell Davey spoke in the earlier session and it was obvious they had all enjoyed being part of a side which was not far away from being very successful.
