What a remarkable performance this was after the home loss, to go to Rye who had felt they were coming into form and come away with a big win - without Sam, and without Erik.

We knew it would take performances of near perfection from the top three, with the others chipping in where they could, and that's pretty much what we got.

As ever Craig Cook led the way with one of his masterclasses. He beat Kennett in heats 1 and 4, even though he hadn't gated, with Kennett coming down in the first race as Craig went by.

Then he missed the two minutes between heats 4 and 5, and had to go off 15 metres, but picked off Lykke early and Mellgren on the last bend to complete the 5-1. Two more times he sat with Sedgy on 5-1s, and he also beat Kennett again with ease in heat 13. The only thing missing this time was the track record!

Justin started with a tapes exclusion, and didn't try the 15 metre ride in the opening race. After that he never looked like losing, riding perfect sweeping first corners. The only time he wasn''t ahead down the back straight was the rerun of heat 8, and he passed Aspegren later in the race.

Kevin started with a disappointing third, then a second behind Kennett, then reeled off three comfortable wins including one over the TR Mellgren in heat 12.

Liam Carr came in for Riss, and had bike trouble in heat 3. In heat 10 he finished close behind Aspegren, and in heat 13 taking the rider replacement ride, he comfortably beat the same rider!

Max Clegg started with an excellent heat 2 victory and thereafter was always pushing for points.

Rob Branford was a bit erratic riding on his regular NL track and was dicing with Bowen for second in heat 14 when he fell. Bit our reserves outscored the home men 9-5!

It was quite a long evening in the sunshine, with a few of the now commonplace stopped races after fliers, but it was a rewarding night for our substantial number of travelling fans.
