Stellar Monarchs have delivered their first rider for 2024 by wrapping up the signing of fast-rising British youngster Max James.

Max James, 16, established himself in speedway as a regular challenger on the British youth scene and now makes the move up to professional racing.

James said, "I'm really looking forward to stepping up to the Championship. I'll learn loads from riding with more experienced riders and I can't wait to get going."

The Sheffield-born racer has shown a liking to the Armadale circuit so far, "I've really enjoyed the Armadale track since the first time I rode it and I've had some good results there, particularly in my visit last season with the Leicester Cubs. I like riding technical tracks."

Max first caught the eye when he won the 250cc category of the Edinburgh round of the British Youth Championship in 2020 followed up with a fourth place finish in 2021, before finishing second in the 500cc category at Armadale in 2022.

In 2023 Max progressed into National Development League racing where he was regularly winning races for Leicester Lion Cubs, including showing a knack for riding Armadale where he produced his best performance of the season scoring 15+1.

Stellar Monarchs bosses have snapped up the British youngster as they move to rejuvenate the side for 2024, Co-Promoter Alex Harkess said, "Max has developed strongly through the youth scene and has always been one to keep an eye on as he was a real contender.

"At the Monarchs we have always given youth a chance to flourish, and our supporters enjoy watching young riders on their journey. We are delighted to have Max in the team and we excited to watch him progress."
