The Scotwaste Monarchs fought back from an 8-point deficit to earn a richly deserved 45-45 draw at King's Lynn. In fact they were unfortunate not to taste their first victory there for 41 years.

There were costly falls for Ryan Fisher (heat 1) and Derek Sneddon (heat 8) whilst both were lying second, but these were errors of our own making. The real misfortune came in heat 2 when Aaron Summers blew a motor while leading the heat.

Not only did this rob Aaron of the three points he deserved, but he couldn't perform anywhere near as well on borrowed machinery.

However it was another all-round good display, probably our best so far. We fell 8 behind after the early problems, but took 5-1 wins in heats 7, 11 and 14 to go into heat 15 4 points ahead!

In that final race home stars Topinka (maximum), and Doolan made great starts. William Lawson almost took Doolan but the Stars got their 5-1 to force a draw.

Amongst our highlights were some brilliant rides by Thomas Jonasson, including a win over Doolan, and vital overtakes in the latter stages by Matthew Wethers (on Harrison in heat 13) and Andrew Tully (in a great battle with Oliver in heat 14).

A delighted John Campbell said "I told the boys on the truck afterwards, 'This is just the start!' The team spirit is simply fantastic."
