Decent weather over a few days allowed Doc Bridgett and his staff to prepare a good track for the first practise session of the new season for the Scotwaste Monarchs.

The riders were concerned about the new silencers and by the end of the day their fears were no less. This is going to be a much talked-about issue over the next few days and weeks.

However all of the riders other than Kevin had track time, and obviously there was much interest in how Jozsef especially would perform. He started slowly and suffered the tumble shown in the photo.

Later though he gained confidence and rode quicker, and was quite happy by the end of the day.

Everyone else got round fine, with Max Dilger also showing increased confidence as the day went on.

Kevin Wolbert was there only for the photo session and to collect silencers he will be testing in Germany before travelling across this week.

As well as our own 1-7, others practising were William Lawson, an impressive Cal McDade in stunning colours, and Dutch rider Henkie Koonstra who is a friend of Max.

There will be another session on Saturday afternoon from 2 till 4.
