The Scotwaste Monarchs had little difficulty qualifying for the KO Cup semi final when they beat King's Lynn 58-31 (aggregate 114-65) in a one-sided tie. They will race Workington in the semi final on dates to be arranged.

Monarchs only problems came early when Kalle Katajisto (heat 3) and Andrew Tully (heat 4) both fell, and in heat 13 when Ryan Fisher ran partner Tully very wide and earned an exclusion.

The Stars had just three race winners ? two for their new no. 1 Ollie Allen and one for Tomas Topinka. 16 year old Lasse Bjerre showed up well on his Armadale debut with 7 points and looked remarkably like his elder brother Kenneth.

Kevin Wolbert was best Monarch and finished the night with an exceptional pass on Allen to total 14 points. He was using one of Kalle Katajisto's engines and thanked Kalle during the victory parade.

Six of the team recorded race wins and the outcome was never in doubt. Saturday's visit to Workington is now the main item on the agenda and a win there would be a huge boost to Monarchs' title chances.
