For a number of years now at Armadale Speedway we have supported the local Children’s Gala Day Committee in their fund raising efforts and this year’s special event takes place on Friday night.

We have invited all the children in the immediate vicinity of the stadium to join us for a special night although we do ask that they bring an adult with them to supervise. It has become a very special event for us each year and has produced our biggest attendance of the season for the last two years. It seems, again, that we will have good weather, and that makes a change from the norm of this season.

Each child will be given a special gift as they enter the stadium, a giant team poster. These will be available to adults at various points throughout the stadium for only £1. We will also have a bouncy castle and a face painter and, perhaps, the biggest attraction of them all, Ed the Monarch, now very much a child favourite each week.

The racing will see the Scotwaste Monarchs in League action at home for the first time with the visit of Plymouth Devils. They were racing at Redcar on Thursday night and ran the Bears fairly close going down 51 to 42. Ty Proctor and Mark Lemon were their top scorers and the Devils will be strengthened by the return of Ricky Kling from Sweden on Friday night.

Mitchell Davey will make his debut for the Scotwaste Monarchs replacing Marcel Helfer who left Edinburgh on Wednesday night for his journey home to Germany. He’s disappointed to lose his place in the team and will be happy to return again and is keen to continue riding for another team in the Premier League.

We will also welcome Craig Cook to Armadale on Friday evening to congratulate him on his marvellous fourth place in the British Championship on Monday. He guested for Sheffield on Thursday night and scored 10 points from his four races and equalled the fastest time of the season in one of his heat wins.
