Scotwaste Monarchs have named their riders to contest the Premier League Pairs Championship at Somerset on the last day of May and it’s Craig Cook and Claus Vissing who will represent the Club.

Each Club is asked to select two riders from their top three and although Craig was an obvious selection the second place was not so.

Explaining the decision Club Chairman, Alex Harkess said, “Of course it didn’t take a second to choose Craig, he’s the best rider in the League at the moment but our second pick wasn’t so easy. Theo’s been doing very well this season. He’s pretty well unbeatable at home and he’s knocking up big points away from home but we picked Claus simply because of his extensive experience of the Oak Tree Arena where he rode all of last season.”

The Scotwaste Monarchs face Workington(Richard Lawson and Rene Bach), Plymouth(Ty Proctor and Mark Lemon), Sheffield(two from Simon Stead, Richard Hall and Ricky Wells) and Leicester(Lasse Bjerre and Kevin Doolan). A top two finish in the qualifiers will see a semi-final against Somerset, Glasgow, Ipswich, Scunthorpe or Berwick.

Any thoughts of a wrist injury for Jozsef Tabaka after his heat 12 spill at Plymouth can now be completely dispelled after he raced his second meeting within twenty four hours in the World Team Cup qualifier at Miskolc in Hungary on Monday afternoon. Jozsef scored nine points from his six rides including a fall in his first race and an exclusion in his fifth race for bringing down American Gino Manzares. It seemed for much of the afternoon that Italy would be the winners but the Americans moved up a gear in the latter part of the meeting to win easily and Hungary snatched second place from the Italians in the last race.
