Claus Vissing didn’t even manage four laps at Armadale of Friday evening before an untidy overtaking manoeuvre by fellow Dane Kasper Lykke caused him to fall at the first corner.

That ended racing for Claus and he eventually ended up in the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary for checks on back pain. He was discharged from hospital at midnight with confirmation that he had bruising to his back and ribcage.

Claus flew back to Denmark on Saturday morning and from there he said, “I’m a bit sore after my fall and I’ve told my Polish team, Krosno, that I will not be able to line up for them on Sunday. However, I hope to feel fit enough to visit my physiotherapist on Sunday and get some treatment. It is my intention to be back in the UK on Tuesday to race in the cup semi-final at Somerset.”

We’ll await further updates from Denmark and hope for good news for Tuesday.

Further news followed at tea time on Saturday as we got the great news that, after a check up at the hospital, it has been confirmed that Josh Bates has not broken his wrist and he hopes to be in the team on Tuesday. Everyone, including Josh, believed as they left the stadium on Friday night that his season might be over.

Said Scotwaste Monarchs Chairman, Alex Harkess, "I think everyone was a bit down at the end of the night despite our big win but this double good news today has given everyone a boost."
