The Scotwaste Monarchs put the disappointment of Knock Out Cup exit behind them as they travel to Workington for double header action this evening.

The first meeting on the card is our first Premier League Play Off match and this will get underway promptly at 6.30pm. Our play off group also features Ipswich and it will be vital to run the Comets close if we are to have a chance of reaching the play off final.

The Scotwaste Monarchs have had the extend their search wider than normal to fill the reserve berth left vacant by Mitchell Davey’s injury. The National League Riders Championship takes place at Rye House tonight and Josh Bates, Liam Carr and James Sarjeant are all in that meeting. Stepping in to give us a hand this time will be Stoke’s Lee Payne, a former motocrosser who is in his first season of speedway. He rode last week at Armadale in Derek’s Testimonial meeting.

The Comets have team problems also. Kyle Howarth missed the British Under 19 Championship at Coventry last night with a virus but hopes to be fit for tonight. Tero Aarnio will be missing though having picked up an injury in Sweden. Comets will use rider replacement. Finally at reserve, Ashley Morris is also at Rye House tonight and his place will be taken by Newcastle’s Chris Schramm.

The second part of the double header will be the Scotwaste Monarchs final Premier League meeting of the season.
