Top Scotwaste Monarch in the second leg of the Australian Championship Final at Undera was Justin Sedgmen, who scored an excellent 11 points in the qualifying races to make the A Final. There was solid scoring again from all of our three representatives with Sam Masters on 8 and Max Fricke on 7.

Justin finished third in the A Final behind Chris Holder and Jason Doyle after Troy Batchelor had been excluded from the first running.

He had also had the distinction of heading Batchelor and Chris Holder in his second ride in heat 6. For the second meeting running Chris Holder had to qualify via the B-Final.

Sam was steady this time, scoring in every ride, while Max bounced back from a couple of last places to head home Jason Doyle in his final ride.

So all three can be very happy with their performances so far as the head off to Saturday’s final stage at Gillman.

After the opening round at Kurri Kurri last weekend, B-Finalist Sam Masters said “It was all right, though I had three outside gates, and then when I got my inside gates the outside had come good!

“For a bad draw, for what I had, it wasn’t too bad. To be racing amongst the big boys after a year off will have done me good, it’s what I needed.

“I had one or two carburettor problems but they are sorted now. I’ve borrowed an engine from a young lad over here and it is going well. I’ve had a few good meetings in a row now and hopefully will have a few more, and then I’ll just be getting things ready for the season in UK. These Australiajn titles are a good thing.

“Max and Justin were going good, Max scored the same as me, he’s very talented. Sedgmen I think is really determined to do well this year, he got 8 points which in that field is good – just to get a point each race in a meeting like that is good.”
