The Monarchs’ History Night at Meggetland was a remarkable success and a big boost to our Air Fence Fund as some 250 fans gathered in two halls to listen to the story of the Monarchs and their pre-war predecessors over 85 years.

A great deal of work went in to the production of the event and the clever idea of staging the event in an upstairs hall at the venue, while streaming it to another packed hall downstairs, worked remarkably well. This was achieved by our technical experts the Campbell boys!

We are also very grateful to Bert Harkins for coming all the way north for the event, and to Brian Collins, Jimmy Tannock and Alan Bridgett for their interesting contributions.

2014 Monarchs Max Fricke, Sam Masters and Aaron Fox were there and addressed the fans, and they will also have learnt just how much history they are following as they don their race jackets for the new season.

Few clubs are as well recorded in photo and video terms as the Monarchs and the archives were raided for a rich display of riders and events over the years. Feedback suggests that the History Night was greatly enjoyed by all.
