AIR FENCE UPDATE

NEWS Thursday 20th March 2014, 8:58pm

by Toby Lerone

  Edinburgh Monarchs

The great day arrived at Armadale with the installation of our air fence. The strong wind blowing across the track made it is difficult as possible for the installation to proceed and, probably, added two hours to the time required but the job is now done.

The first chance to see the air fence in place is on Saturday at our Press Day. We will open the gates at 5.00pm to allow you to see the riders in action and our lovely blue and yellow air fence. We will be asking all those attending to make a small contribution to our air fence fund but everyone is invited to come along for the first chance to see the Scotwaste Monarchs in action in 2014.

Unfortunately there will not be a special bus running from Waterloo Place to this event.

Hopefully our biggest fund raiser of all will take place at Armadale on Friday 28th March with our Air Fence Challenge but in addition to that Geoff Craythorne is still planning to climb Ben Nevis. This will take place later in the year when weather on the summit will be better. Full details of the climb will be released at our first meeting next week but Geoff is looking for climbers or, more likely, walkers to join him on the trip. If you are interested then you will be able to see Geoff at the stadium next week.

All those who attended the Brief History of Speedway Racing in Edinburgh will know what a wonderful event it was. It was also an excellent fund raiser. Much of the money raised is now in the fund bank account although a little more is expected. However, the good news is that the Air Fence Fund has now risen to £17518.90. A truly magnificent effort by all concerned. Well done to everyone and thank you.
