FIRST TWO NAMES FOR THEO

The first two names for Theo Pijper’s Testimonial event which opens the Scottish speedway season on Friday 20th March (7:30pm), are both Danish.

Former Monarchs favourite, now a Berwick Bandit, Claus Vissing was quick to offer his services, as was Workington’s new signing, former Elite League man Kenneth Hansen.

Claus of course was a key man in Monarchs’ 2013 Fours victory on that great day at Peterborough. He said “Theo actually asked me when the meeting was due to be held in Glasgow last year. That didn’t happen but of course I am very pleased to be doing it now, Theo is a nice chap and I enjoyed being his team mate at Armadale.

“I think it is a good time of year for the meeting because everyone will be keen to see some speedway after the winter. I’m really looking forward to it.”

Further names will be announced in the lead-up to the Night of Champions.

The event will be an Individual competition, concluding with semi-finals and a big prize final, plus a Flying Lap contest and some heats displaying the talent of some of the best British youngsters.

With Theo not currently signed for a UK club, it is possible that this could be the last appearance of his excellent British racing career.
