We are now going in to the busiest spell of the season and sadly we do so without Sam Masters. This week’s Armadale visitors are Redcar in the KO Cup quarter Final, with Ipswich (Thursday) and Berwick (Saturday) in away Premier League fixtures.

Steve Worrall guests at Armadale and Ritchie Worrall in the two away matches. We will also continue with guests at reserve, Dan Greenwood at Ipswich and Liam Carr at Armadale and Berwick.

TEAMS FOR THE KNOCKOUT CUP Quarter Final first leg AT ARMADALE ON FRIDAY 17th July (start time 7.30, doors open 6.30) are:

EDINBURGH BORDER ROOFING MONARCHS: Stevie Worrall, Justin Sedgmen, Kevin Wolbert, Erik Riss, Craig Cook (capt.), Max Clegg, Liam Carr.

REDCAR BEARS: Lasse Bjerre, Jan Graversen, Matej Kus, Jonas B Andersen, Stuart Robson, Ben Morley, Adam Roynon.

INJURIES: Sam Masters suffered a broken hand when avoiding a fallen rider at Leicester last Saturday and after a very uncomfortable couple of days, had an operation on Tuesday.

Whilst still uncomfortable he was considering travelling to Ipswich to cheer the team on!

Craig Cook crashed later in that Leicester meeting and said “I’m pretty sore but every day that goes by I get a bit better.

“I’m going to go to boxing training tonight and do a bit of skipping and a bit of light work on the bag to try to loosen it up.

“I was kind of glad Belle Vue was called off on Monday to give me a couple of days to recover.”

Of course Rob Branford is also out with a right arm injury. We don’t have definite news on Rob but it seemed to be a possibility that he would have a try-out at the weekend.

SEASON TICKETS: Armadale season ticket holders are reminded that their tickets do not apply to the KO Cup beyond the first stage, League Cup semis and final or the Premier Playoffs.

Therefore they will gain admission on Friday for a discounted rate in comparison with non-season ticket holders.

ENDING OF ARRANGEMENT: An arrangement whereby Glasgow season ticket holders could attend Armadale meetings for half price has been ended.

Only a small number of supporters took advantage of the scheme and it has drawn a few complaints from supporters of both clubs who felt it was unfair.

Glasgow will make their own announcement on their part of the agreement under which Edinburgh season ticket holders attended Ashfield.

BEARS LOOK FOR IMPROVEMENT: Redcar were hammered on their last Armadale appearance but subsequently beat Monarchs at Redcar. That must surely encourage them not to give up early on this tie and to aim for a much better score in the first leg.

Their new Dane Jonas B Andersen is obviously a good rider (he rode as a youngster at Armadale in 2011) and his arrival also pushes Adam Roynon down to reserve.

Steve Worrall rode for the Bears on their last visit, this time he switches to Monarchs with Stuart Robson this time available for the Bears. Matej Kus also missed the last trip so all in all, the visiting team looks much more solid than last time – in fact the first time this season a visiting team has arrived with all of their 1-7 intact!

LAST MEETING: The Border Roofing Monarchs beat Sheffield 60-31 with Craig Cook and Justin Sedgmen unbeaten by the opposition.

NEXT MEETING: On Friday 24th July Monarchs race Rye House Rockets in the Premier League at Armadale. They are also at Redcar in the KO Cup (Thursday 23rd) and Plymouth in the Premier League (Saturday 25th).
