The Border Roofing Monarchs have no home match at Armadale tonight but race away at Workington (Saturday, Premier League) and Newcastle (Sunday, KO Cup semi-final 2nd leg).

Tomorrow at Derwent Park we will use rider replacement for Erik Riss who rides in the World Longtrack, and we will have Buxton’s Ryan Blacklock standing in for Max Clegg who is riding at Berwick in the British Under-19 Championship. We will have our full team on parade for the Cup semi on Sunday as we try to defend our 22-point advantage.

SAM’S SHOULDER: Sam Masters has been having treatment for his injured shoulder this week, and withdrew from a guest booking at King’s Lynn to deal with it.

It seems he has had a trapped nerve, and this was corrected on Tuesday. He will now have massage to complete the treatment and is confident he will be fine for the weekend.

“I had no pain at all, I can lift my toolbox or anything,” he said, “except when I was riding. It must be that I get into a position which was triggering the discomfort.”

Sam has taken a booking to appear in the Czech Golden Helmet on Sunday 20th, which Kevin Wolbert will also be competing in.

PREMIER LEAGUE: Final positions will be decided this weekend, and so the lineup for the Playoffs will be known.

Edinburgh have finished first, and Somerset are second.

Glasgow will be third if they gain at least a point at home to Rye House. If they don’t, Peterborough could pass them by beating Scunthorpe at home on Sunday.

More likely, Peterborough and Sheffield will finish fourth and fifth and so contest one quarter final (winners v Edinburgh)l. Glasgow would then meet either Ipswich or Plymouth in the other (winners v Somerset).

KNOCKOUT CUP: Somerset and Rye House contest their semi-final, at Somerset tonight (11th) and Rye House as part of a double header tomorrow.

LEAGUE CUP: As announced earlier we will meet Glasgow in the Final of the League Cup, at Armadale on 25th September and Glasgow on Sunday 27th.

There will be further news of ticketing arrangements and sponsorship opportunities.

LAST MEETING: The Border Roofing Monarchs beat Newcastle 56-34 in the first leg of the Knockout Cup semi-final. Kevin Wolbert, Sam Masters and Justin Sedgmen all scored double figures.

NEXT MEETING: On Friday 18th September we race Berwick in the Premier League, completing our matches in that competition.
