Max Clegg was in action in the British Under 21 Championship at Sheffield on Thursday evening and turned in a good performance.

Max scored 11 points in his qualifying races and that gave him a place in the semi final against local riders Josh Bates and Nathan Greaves and Birmingham's Jack Parkinson-Blackburn. However, from the outside he made a poor start in the semi and finished last.

Josh Bates went on to win the final giving Robert Lambert his only defeat of the evening.

Down at Swindon Sam Masters helped Wolverhampton to a four point victory. He was brilliant in his first three races being unbeaten by the opposition but then two last places followed including heat 15.

It's the big match at Armadale on Friday with the visit of Glasgow Tigers. They have been hit by illness with Richard Lawson pulling out of the meeting with flu. His place is taken by Workington's Ricky Wells and that will strengthen the Tigers. Lawson has, probably, the lowest average round Armadale of any visiting number 1 at 5.28 including bonus points while Ricky Wells' 7.53 Armadale average is improving with every visit.

Berwick also have injury worries. Anders Mellgren has withdrawn from our match there on Saturday with a knee injury and the Bandits will use rider replacement to cover.
