Erik Riss will miss the Border Roofing Monarchs visit to Ipswich on Thursday and is battling to be fit for his World Under 21 qualifier at Belle Vue on Saturday and our away match at Rye House on Sunday.

Erik got a very late call up to ride in the GP qualifier at Abensberg on Monday afternoon. He was due to be reserve but the late withdrawal of Bjarne Pedersen gave him a place in the line up.

The meeting was staged in dreadful conditions with the track almost flooded at the start. Kevin Wolbert was also contesting the meeting picked up a single point in his first ride. Erik finished second in his first race but then disaster struck in heat 7. Riding inside Russian Sergei Logachev he picked up grip on the first turn and headed skyward before clipping the Russian and falling heavily.

He was rushed to hospital but it was soon confirmed that he had no broken bones but was very very sore all over although he was released from hospital. By Tuesday afternoon he was still unable to move and has withdrawn from our Ipswich trip. If he recovers sufficiently later in the week he may take his place at Belle Vue on Saturday.

Kevin went on to score 3 more points but 4 left him in ninth place when the meeting was abandoned after heat 12. The top seven qualified for the semi final.

In Erik's absence the Border Roofing Monarchs have no option but to use rider replacement giving extra rides to Jye Etheridge and the reserves.
