Race Day Update

MATCHDAY LATEST Friday 21st April 2017, 11:00am

by Toby Lerone

  Edinburgh Monarchs

It looks like we have a good day for speedway at Armadale with the Parsons Peebles Monarchs going into action this evening against Redcar knowing that a win will take them to the top of the Championship table.

It seemed that there would be a late change in the in the Bears lineup. Dane Jonas B Andersen was recalled to Denmark to ride in the Danish GP/SEC qualifier at Slangerup on Friday evening but on Friday morning that was reversed and Jonas will now be at Armadale.

Following his heavy tumble last Friday, Josh Pickering has been struggling a little with a sore leg but he has made rapid improvement since Tuesday and he will be able to take his place in the team.

The Bears warmed up for their visit north with a home match against Ipswich last night. The Witches are seen as one of the strong teams of the league but the Bears had a convincing win by 54 to 35.

Big news was announced last night about two of our riders. Ricky Wells has joined Rye House in the Premiership taking the place of Davie Watt there and he'll make his debut on Saturday down there.

Mark Riss has also found himself a place in the Premiership, taking the place of his Monarchs teammate Max Clegg at Wolverhampton. He'll make his debut on Monday at home against......Rye House.

It looks like we'll have another big crowd at Armadale tonight. Advance tickets sales have been the biggest for a team match this season. Tickets are still available online but it is also possible to pay at the gate.
