The fourth annual Monarchs 100 Burns Supper went very well last night at Danderhall Miners Club with Stewart Dickson being this year's special guest, plus a very welcome contribution also from former Berwick captain Kevin Doolan.

The format was much as usual with prose and verse contributions from Scott Wilson, Mose, Laraine Wells and Len Jones loosely around the Burns format, plus Q&A sessions between Scott and both Stewart Dickson and Kevin Doolan.

Stewart ran over his time in Speedway, leading up to his epic night at Ashfield last October and his hopes for his Leicester Lions this summer. Kevin also reflected on his 20-plus years career and some of the things he will be doing in the future, including an interesting foray into mountain biking. Both outstanding interviews. Stewart added a fine poem about the night the Lions won the title.

Kenny McKinna has been a guest at all our Burns Suppers and it was great to see him and Heather again, and also in attendance were stars of the 70s and 80s Benny Rourke, Andy Meldrum and Niven Munro.

The meal was superb and all those responsible for either preparing or serving were given a rousing round of applause.

At the end of the night organisers Scott Wilson and Derek Wilkinson were able to hand over £1900 to the Monarchs' promoters Alex Harkess and John Campbell.
