The Stellar Monarchs Academy put in their most complete performance of the season running out big victors 59-31 over the Workington Comets on Saturday night a result that also sees the aggregate bonus point go to the Armadale men.

The hosts were dominant throughout taking the checkered flag in 14 of the 15 races with maximums for Jacob Hook (17+1) and Max Clegg (14+1) leading the way. Clegg saying after

'That was what we needed and we came up with the goods. It was a fantastic performance from everyone.

'Workington have some decent riders so we knew it wasn't going to be an easy meeting but we got the job done.'

Clegg maybe underselling just how strong a performance it was as the his side were never headed taking the lead as early as heat two when Mickie Simpson who enjoyed a productive night also and reserve partner Dayle Wood took an eventful 4-2 Wood going from second to the back before taking third on the line.

This would start a myriad of heat advantages for the home men as they stretched their lead to 14 by the halfway mark with Hook, Clegg and fellow heat leader Adam Roynan all recording a pair of heat wins by this stage.

All talk before the match had been about concentrating on winning on the night but with this advantage in place the Academy really had the bit between their teeth as they went in hunt of the aggregate bonus point, 16 points the deficit to make up from the corresponding fixture in Cumbria back in May.

Heat ten was an enthralling race as Luke Harrison and Wood had a ding dong battle passing and re-passing multiple times battling for second.

The next race would see the Comets one and only heat win on the night as guest Lee Complin forcefully passed Roynan.

This would only be respite though as heat 12 would see the race of the night as Wood and Harrison did battle once again, this time Jacob Hook was also involved as he went from 3rd to 1st, Wood also getting the better of the Comet to put the Academy into the aggregate bonus point lead for the first time.

Further maximum advantages in heats 13 and 15 gave the score its final bluster the latter seeing a heavy crash for Complin who thankfully walked away relatively unscathed.

There will be better nights for the Comets but for the home men tonight was a real boost and they will look to take the momentum to the National Speedway stadium next Friday to take on the Belle Vue Colts.
