Stellar Monarchs are delighted to announce the addition of Mitchell Davey to the Monarchs youth development system ahead of the 2024 season.

Mitchell will join the Monarchs Speedway Academy (MSA) coaching team alongside David McAllan and Sean Stoddart, bringing an additional dimension of experience to offer to MSA riders.

Alongside this, Mitchell will also become team manager of the Armadale Angels in the Northern Junior League where he will coach MSA riders as they tackle competitive racing.

Mitchell rode for the Monarchs in 2013 and 2017 before going on to become a highly respected mechanic following his retrial from the sport.

Stellar Monarchs Co-Promoter John Campbell is thrilled to have Mitchell on board, "Mitchell will slot perfectly into our coaching set up and it is excellent that he will also manage the Angels. I'm sure there will be some rivalry between Mitchell and Scott Wilson who manages the West Lothian Wildcats alongside his NDL duties!

"Mitchell brings great experience from both a racing and mechanical point of view, which adds to the excellent coaches we have in Sean Stoddart and David McAllan. It is terrific to have them all to help our young riders progress.

"As a Club we are known for developing young riders at all levels and this is something we continually strive to push on further."

New MSA Coach and Angels Manager Mitchell Davey is pleased to be involved, "I'm looking forward to being apart of the MSA and helping the new youth talent progress and hone their talents.

"We are looking to provide a stable career development path from MSA to NJL and furthermore onto the Monarchs Academy team before finally reaching the Monarchs. It's a fundamental part of British Speedway that has been missing, so having the platform now at Edinburgh is incredible and hopefully secures the longevity of Scottish Speedway."

"I'm excited to be getting a start in the managerial side of things with the Armadale Angels, we have got a really good squad and hopefully I can be there to help the team for any advice and help they need to see them aim to take out the Northern Junior League title.

Monarchs Speedway Academy sessions will get underway on Saturday 13th April and are open to kids aged 5 and over with an interest in motorcycle racing. You can find out more details and contact the MSA to get involved here:
