Our Cup tie second leg never looked like surviving the weather after the heavy stuff started just before start time.

We did have about 60 yards of racing, as the riders started heat 1 only for Derek Sneddon and Ricky Ashworth to hit the fence hard at the first corner.

The ref gave the rain time to go off, though the track was certainly going to be wet, and eventually the calloff came with no more bikes on track.

Our recent performances at Somerset suggest it will be very tough to beat the Rebels on aggregate.

How many would we have needed to have an even chance? Well a lot more than 7 anyway.

Without delving into our last couple of painful performances we know we need a big performance from everyone.

It will be a strange team because we will have Ricky Ashworth at no. 1, Sam Martin at reserve and we?ll be using rider replacement for William, who has a family funeral.

Ashworth on the face of it is a strong choice, a big track rider who tries hard and certainly did for us at Workington recently.

We?ll need Matthew to get another big score, and some decent gating from the rest of the side (that?s Derek, Andrew, Henrik and wee Sam) is essential if we are to get anywhere near.

Looking for weaknesses in the Rebels? lineup is a fruitless exercise. They will have Stephan Katt back to form a powerhouse opening pair with Zorro. Kramer is a sound no. 3 and Ritchie Hawkins has just pocketed a 13-point score at Berwick.

Reserves Warwick and Walker gate well and are quick round their own track, and handy Jordan Frampton is expected back.

If we qualify it will certainly be our best performance of the season.
