New to Speedway?

If you're new to the action packed family sport of motorcycle speedway, you're in the right place!

Each speedway match has 15 races, with two teams battling it out to win league points.

Each four lap race sees four riders compete against each other, two from the home team and two from the away team, each riding a 500cc motorcycle with no brakes!

Cheer for the home riders wearing the red and blue helmet colours with the away riders wearing white and yellow. The winner gains 3 points, second gains 2, third picks up 1 and the last place, or a non-finisher, will receive 0.

The team with the most points at the end of the night is the winner overall.

Monarchs compete in the British Speedway Championship against 8 other teams from across the Great Britain.

There's a lot going on during a speedway match, so we've listed some tips to help you get started:

Car Parking

The main car park is situated just off Bathgate Road and opens at 5:30pm.

There is an overflow car park situated to the East of the stadium that opens when the main car park is full.

The car park is charged at £2 per vehicle.

Please note that car parking in the surrounding housing estates is forbidden and is enforced by police.

Disabled Access

The Club's policy is to admit a carer free of charge when with a disabled supporter paying the standard admission fee.

Easy access toilets are available at the toilet block closest to the admission gates.

A large gate can be opened to allow a wheelchair user access. A member of staff will be happy to assist and open the gate.

Viewing

Armadale Stadium has two viewing areas - the Main Grandstand and the North Stand.

The Main Grandstand is located straight past the admission gates. The North Stand is located to the left after you pass the Snack Van. Both viewing areas are signposted.

Toilets

There are two sets of toilets in the stadium. The first is to the right after passing through the admission gates. The second can be found as you enter the bar.

Easy access toilets can be found just outside the block nearest the entrance.

Food and Drink Outlets

There are three outlets available within the stadium.

Elaine's Tea Bar can be found towards the end of the main grandstand and serves hot and cold drinks along with filled rolls and other snacks.

The Snack Van is situated just after the admission gates and serves hot food with other drinks and snacks.

Within the main Grandstand, the licenced Stadium Bar serves many beers on tap as well other spirits and soft drinks.

Please note that all food and drink outlets accept cash only.

Official Club Merchandise

A wide range of official merchandise is available from the Club Shop from small souvenirs up to the latest clothing range.

The Club Shop accepts card as well as cash payments.

Merchandise can also be ordered online to be collected from the Club Shop or to be delivered to your address. Tap here to browse through the latest range.

Ed the Monarch

Ed the Monarch is the Club's lion mascot. You'll find Ed handing out high-5s and sweets to kids as you enter the stadium and often makes his way through the crowd during the match.

Make sure to get a selfie with Ed and send it to us - you could feature in a future issue of the match magazine!

Postponed Matches

In some situations, it may be necessary to postpone matches due to the weather.

For safety reasons, speedway racing isn't possible when rain is falling, but we work tirelessly to give every match a chance of going ahead if there has been rain falling earlier on matchday.

Don't let a damp day put you off entirely though - some of the best racing has been seen on evenings that have been wet in the lead up to start time!

If a match is postponed, we immediately post an alert on the Official Website and post on Facebook and Twitter. We also send out a text message alert, which you can sign up for here.

If you booked your tickets in advance, your tickets will be valid to any other standard Monarchs fixture scheduled within the current season.

Abandoned Matches

In some other situations, it may be necessary to abandon a match that is in progress due to the weather.

For safety reasons, speedway racing isn't possible when rain is falling. If rain begins to fall during a match, the match referee may temporarily pause racing to wait for the rain to pass and may then inspect the track.

The referee will then either allow racing to proceed or will abandon the match.

If the match is abandoned prior to the completion of the 10th race, the result will not stand and the match will be rerun at a later date. You will be able to attend the rescheduled fixture using your readmission receipt or online ticket, subject to a small fee calculated based upon the number of completed races. The correct fees will be posted on the Official Website a few days after the abandoned match.

If the match is abandoned after the completion of the 10th race, the result will stand and no refunds or other readmission rules will apply.

Blue Reward Card

The Blue Reward Card scheme was introduced alongside the Gold Membership and is aimed at supporters who attend fewer matches.

The scheme is free to join and offers discounts on admission, merchandise and more.

You can sign up for a Blue Reward Card at any time and immediately log in to book discounted tickets online.
