Welcome to the
Future
of Edinburgh Monarchs Speedway
Introducing West Lothian Community Stadium

West Lothian Community Stadium will deliver new opportunities for the local community and beyond.

The stadium will secure the future of Edinburgh Monarchs Speedway within West Lothian, retaining high quality professional speedway racing in the area.

This will be complimented by a range of community orientated activities, including Monarchs Speedway Academy training local youngsters to become speedway riders while also reducing anti-social behaviour involving motorcycles on local streets.

Nestled into a perfect site within West Lothian, the stadium will create opportunities for local people to develop new skills and establish a career for themselves through one of the programmes that will be on offer as the stadium becomes a regular hub of community activity.

Who are the Monarchs?

Edinburgh Monarchs Speedway is east central Scotland's very own motorcycle speedway team competing in the British Speedway Championship against teams from across Great Britain.

The Monarchs were formed in 1948 at Old Meadowbank Stadium in Edinburgh and operated successfully here until redevelopment for the Commonwealth Games took over the site. Powderhall Stadium was the next major home for the Club until this gave way to housing development, leading the Club to its current venue at Armadale Stadium in West Lothian.

The Armadale era has brought much success with five league titles secured since 2003, three Knock Out Cup victories and three League Cup triumphs. However, after 26 years the Monarchs will leave Armadale Stadium at the conclusion of the 2022 season.

Monarchs very own new home at West Lothian Community Stadium will finally provide Edinburgh Monarchs Speedway with the long-term security, allowing the Club to deliver excellence both on and off the track.
