Stellar Monarchs Academy had no answer for a powerhouse home performance going down 55-35 at Leicester on Sunday, a result that sees the hosts leapfrog the Academy into second in the NDL table.

The Lion Cubs leading from the off and never looking back leaving Academy team boss Scott Wilson to say, "The scoreline doesn't make for great reading but I think it's harsh on us if I'm honest.

'We battled hard in the early part of the meeting and kept Leicester close for 9 heats. They are a quality side, the best in the league in my opinion, and that quality told in the end.

There were some high points. Dayle had a great tussle with Max Perry to win heat 5 and Jordy's race with Cooper in heat 15 was great to watch. Two youngsters going wheel to wheel with our boy coming out on top.

We have mostly home meetings remaining so we'll look to win those when they come around and finish as high up the table as we can."

As mentioned it wasn't the worst of starts by the Armadale men as they held the hosts to a four point lead after nine heats, albeit with only two heat wins.

The home heat leader trio of Max Perry, Ben Trigger and the remarkable Cooper Rushen were all in dominant form as they raced to a combined 11 heat wins and paid 40 points between them with an untroubled maximum for Trigger and only a heat 15 defeat for Rushen a surefire star of the future.

With double figure backup at reserve from Ryan Ingram there was scoring throughout the home men that Wilson's side just couldn't contend with as the match progressed.

Positives can be taken once again for Jordy Loftus who continues his speedway education with a well deserved heat 15 nomination as he ratcheted up a pair of heat wins among his paid 16 haul.

Beyond that it was a bit of a day to forget with only Wood seeing the checkered flag and there will be a few bumps and bruises for man and machine to iron out before the Stellar Academy take to track once again.

Stellar Monarchs Academy are back in action on Sunday afternoon as they head to current league champions Leicester in what has become a crucial tie for both.

The two sides currently sit second and third behind league leading Oxford both with a match in hand and the hosts know any home slip ups could spell disaster for hopes of a repeat title while for Scott Wilson's men an away win against a fellow challenger would be a statement made.

The Academy of course come into this one buoyed by victory at Scunthorpe on Friday night and they welcome number one Dayle Wood back to the fold, albeit the Aussie was more than ably replaced by maximum man Ben Trigger on Friday, Trigger the opposition number five in this one.

Elsewhere the Academy line-up as they did in Lincolnshire with rider replacement in operation for Matt Marson, all bar Wood eligible for an extra outing.

The hosts come into this one minus a couple of their regular starting septet.

Sonny Springer recently announcing his retirement and former Monarch Max James recovering from a damaged wrist.

Rider replacement is in place for Springer with Scunthorpe man Luke Harris in for James.

Elsewhere the Lion Cubs are as expected with the bulk of their scoring expected from heat leader trio Trigger, Max Perry and hot prospect Cooper Rushen.

Rushen haven taken the league by storm this year increasing his starting three point average by over seven and a half points to a 10.57 figure an incredible effort by the Colchester born kid who doesn't turn 16 till March next year.

So, an enthralling encounter looks in store with action due to start at 3pm.
