West Lothian Council announced on Wednesday that outline planning had been granted for 80 homes on the Armadale Stadium site but for speedway it's business as usual with the 2020 season opening in late March.

Said co-promoter, John Campbell, "This application has rumbled on for a long period now. The application was originally submitted back in June 2016 and it is just a week short of two years that local councillor, Stuart Borrowman, announced on Facebook that the Council was minded to grant permission. We've been kept fully up to date by the stadium owners of their plans and we see the stadium being available to us for the foreseeable future."

For the stadium owners, Billy Cochrane continued, "We needed to protect our interest in the stadium site and that why we submitted the planning application. Now that the application has been granted I have spoken to the speedway club and confirmed that we are a million per cent behind the continuation of speedway at Armadale Stadium."

The 2020 speedway season fixture list is currently being prepared and dates should be announced shortly for what will be a busy and exciting season featuring Edinburgh Monarchs and Armadale Devils. Make a note in your diary for a late March opening fixture.
