Peter Lloyd Monarch of 1949
Speedway Star this week carried details of the passing of Peter Lloyd, one of the oldest surviving Edinburgh Monarchs. He was 92. Peter rode briefly for Monarchs in 1949, firstly at the age of 19, and scored 9 points in 7 matches. He rode for several clubs though he never made a big breakthrough. After several years out of the sport he was one of many veterans tried by Newcastle in 1961. In the team photo Peter is second from the left in the back row.
