After a difficult week clearing up after yet another expensive bout of vandalism, Edinburgh Monarchs will be looking to lift the spirits of their management and supporters on Friday with a convincing win over the visiting Workington Comets in their second Premier League Play-Off fixture.

The second match in our play-off section took place at Ipswich on Thursday night and Workington have produced a surprise result by taking victory in a last heat decider by 47 to 43.

After your approval last week of my suggestion that the league gets started earlier, this week I'm going to rant about team make-up. No, not eye-shadow and lipstick but the 1 to 7. I'd like to return to a six man team with one reserve. There's too much emphasis these days on fielding two match-winning reserves.

Armadale Stadium has been the subject of further vandal attacks in the past seven days. Last Monday afternoon the stadium was broken into and glass on the tractors was again smashed. The showers lights and heaters in the dressing rooms were all switched on and, eventually, the whole area was flooded.

Craig Cook made a brave defence of his Premier League Riders' title today, making the final, but he eventually finished fourth behind the winner Oliver Allen, Magnus Karlsson and Jason Doyle.

The Scotwaste Monarchs fought out two very close matches at Derwent Park tonight, losing 47-43 in our first Playoff encounter, and 46-44 in the Premier League match.
