We are so used to seeing the team succeed, it came as a shock to be well beaten at Sheffield, failing to defend a 28-point lead and going out of the Playoffs 31-61 on the night, 90-92 on aggregate.

We have been hammered many times at Sheffield, but we had won on our last two visits and expected that we would be able to hold on to a 28-point advantage in the second leg of the Premier Playoffs.

The Scotwaste Monarchs took another big win in the Playoff semi-final first leg when they beat Sheffield 59-31. The second leg is not a formality but the team have given themselves a very good chance of reaching another final.

Our Playoff semi first leg was a good meeting with some great performances on the home side, though Sheffield did not do quite as well as expected, Auty and Skidmore especially.

Another day, another title to be won, as Edinburgh face fourth placed finishers Sheffield on Friday (7.30) in the first leg of the Premier League Play-Off Semi Final. And the fact that Monarchs finished nearly 30 points ahead of the Tigers will count for nothing.
