We led at heat 8, and were still level on aggregate at heat 12, but two 1-5 losses meant we went down on the night and on aggregate. After a much better Ashfield showing than last time, the score was 41-49, 88-94 overall.

Craig Cook crashed out, Andrew Tully got going after a slow start and old favourite Ryan Fisher won the meeting at the traditional post-GP Welsh Open yesterday.

Only a month ago Monarchs beat this Friday's visitors to the Scotwaste Arena at 7.30 by 20 points in the KO Cup second leg, but Sheffield Tigers have shuffled the pack since then and they look a very different prospect this time around in a Premier League match.

The Scotwaste Monarchs gained all three points against Sheffield, which was an excellent achievement considering the way the enforced team changes on both sides seemed to work against them. It took a great deal of determination from the team's main scorers.

We scored a 5-1 in heat 1 at the STMP but it didn't take long for the tables to be turned, with the Bears taking all three points in a 54-41 victory.
