Alan Bridgett, acknowledged as the UK's top track specialist, has explained the problems faced by the track staff last Friday. These led to dry shale being put on, a heavy track and a poor meeting, not to mention a heavy defeat by Glasgow who coped much better than the Scotwaste Monarchs' riders.

Tonight's meeting was in most respects one of the worst that Edinburgh Speedway fans have ever had to put up with ? poor entertainment, a heavy defeat and a meeting which ran far too long.

The Scotwaste Monarchs face Glasgow again at Armadale this Friday, in the knowledge that the Tigers are well on the way to annexing the title Monarchs won last year, and with a determination to show that they are a much better side than the one defeated at home by Glasgow three weeks ago.

After his excellent performance last Friday, the Scotwaste Monarchs have given Byron Bekker their no. 6 jacket on a permanent basis (subject to the BSPA approving the side).
