Our 54th racing season got under way at Berwick on Saturday night, and short of winning we had very little to complain about after going down 47-45.

It may be Good Friday this week but unfortunately we won’t be celebrating it at the Scotwaste Arena as our opening meeting of the season against Berwick has fallen victim to the weather. However, the weather forecast is much better for the next seven days and it looks like it will be a good Friday for speedway on 5th April. So we’re carrying forward our celebration for seven days.

At the end of last season, John Campbell announced that he didn’t see a way forward at Armadale and would not be promoting there again. Since the club’s fortunes were turned round, many people have asked what his position will be now, and had Friday’s programme been printed you could have read his answer there.

The Scotwaste Monarchs are pleased to announce that 26 year old Danish rider Claus Vissing will be joining the team on loan from Peterborough, starting this weekend.

"Speedway should have returned to Armadale Stadium this coming Friday but due to the ongoing freezing weather it has been decided to make the early decision to call the match off, and plan for the re-opening to be 7 days later on Friday 5th April against Glasgow.

It has been well known for some considerable time that Scotwaste would continue as Monarchs team sponsor in 2013. It’s a position they have held since 2006 and they are, by far, the longest running team sponsors that the Monarchs have had.

Talks have continued with Claus Vissing, who returned to Denmark on Sunday morning, over the weekend with a view to him joining the Scotwaste Monarchs as a direct replacement for the visaless Sam Masters.
