All Monarchs supporters, especially those who watched the team in the Old Meadowbank days in the mid-sixties, will be sorry to hear that Australian Kevin Torpie has passed away at the age of 87. Kev was a Monarch between 1964 and 1966, having previously ridden for Middlesbrough.

Agonisingly close. That was the story of the Stellar Monarchs' Play Off journey, as the team came within touching distance of the Final before Glasgow edged through by the narrowest of margins. Yet despite the disappointment, manager Alex Harkess believes 2025 has been one of the most positive seasons in recent years – and a campaign that has laid firm foundations for the future.

The Edinburgh Stellar Monarchs wish a happy 95th birthday today to a Monarch of some time ago, Harry Darling. Harry rode for the Monarchs 69 times from 1952 to 1954 and still has many friends amongst our support. He used to run supporters buses on away trips in his working days, and continued to follow the team. He was a regular attender at the Scottish Veteran dinners run by Jim Henry until a few years ago, and currently lives in Peebles.

Stellar Monarchs took it all the way to a last heat decider before falling just short at Ashfield going down 53-37 on the night and 91-89 on aggregate after a night of drama in the Championship playoff semi finals.

The Cab Direct Championship Play Off semi-final reaches its climax tomorrow night as the Stellar Monarchs take their 14-point advantage across the M8 to face Glasgow in the second leg at Ashfield Stadium.
