I must be honest and say that when Brian Gray came forward and offered significant financial support for the Club during our very difficult period at the end of the 2012 season I didn’t know him at all. I knew that he was a long time diehard supporter of Edinburgh Monarchs but other than that he was a mystery to me.

After a close encounter at Ashfield this afternoon with Tigers winning by just six points Newcastle Diamonds have stormed through to the Knock Out Cup semi final with a big win over Glasgow tonight by 56 to 33 to win on aggregate by 17 points.

Despite valiant efforts from the track staff tonight's Premier League clash between the Uncle B Monarchs and the Berwick Bandits was eventually called off just after eight o'clock. Heavy showers in the afternoon had caused the damage. No restaging date has been agreed.

We undertook our Speedway Riders Benevolent Fund collection on Friday evening at Armadale with riders from both teams, and even Ed the Monarch, taking part and the huge sum of £1880.34 was uplifted. That is our highest ever collection for the Ben Fund, by some distance.

It was a good night at Armadale as the Border Roofing Monarchs defeated Somerset Rebels, thereby winning the Premier Shield, and the returning Sam Masters scored 8+2 and took five rides, thus returning the team to their chosen 1 to 7 as we move towards the serious end of the season.
