We went down by 39-50 at Berwick in the first leg of the Cock o' the North Trophy, a reasonable enough score but one which could have been substantially better but for a series of unlucky falls in the latter stages of the match.

A tremendous display by the Scotwaste Monarchs tonight brought them their first Trophy of the season, completely making up for the disappointment of the first leg last Sunday with a 56-36 win on the night and a 94-88 aggregate victory.

A disappointing collapse over the closing stages in last Sunday's first leg has given the Scotwaste Monarchs a 14-point deficit to pull back when Glasgow Tigers come to Armadale Stadium on Friday for the deciding leg of the Spring Trophy. Difficult but not impossible.

We were doing so well for ten heats, keeping apparently a firm grip on the match and leading 31-29. And that was without Andrew Tully having scored a point.

We led 31-29 after 10 heats of the first leg of the Spring Trophy at Ashfield, but performed dreadfully over the final five heats to go down 52-38.
